Alternative Energy Technology Can Lead To Less Dependence On Oil And Coal
Wastewater treatment facilities in the US are at present using between 5 and 6 percent of the energy resources available in that country. It would indeed be a welcome improvement if America could lead the way in providing alternative energy technologies that would help these wastewater treatment facilities from relying only on the use of conventionally produced electricity by. No doubt, complete independence from the grid is not achievable but at least by using alternative energy technology the dependence on oil and coal would be greatly reduced.
Use Of Bacteria
In fact, it has become known to scientists working in Penn State that with proper alternative energy technology it would even be possible to produce electricity by making use of bacteria. The latest findings of new alternative energy technology show that it could be possible to make bacteria feed on sludge and in the process produce electricity.
This would indeed prove to be a cheap and useful means of saving from using and relying on conventionally produced electricity and by making full use of such alternative energy technologies it would then even be possible to produce enough energy to power up waste treatment plants all across the country without polluting the environment or depleting the already limited fossil fuel resources.
In fact, newer alternative energy technologies are being used to discover new means of producing bio-diesel as well as methanol and even ethanol. It makes good sense for businesses to put their money and resources into discovering new alternative energy technologies so that the future will have been secured and in return they can also expect to earn considerable profits by becoming leaders in the use of alternative energy resources.
The use of alternative energy technology has helped in propelling the production of bio-mass as well as bio-diesel. In fact, biotechnology is very important and by putting alternative energy technology to good use it is expected that it will soon become possible to transfer bio-mass into the production of usable fuels of which ethanol and methane are prime examples. In fact, ethanol and methane are viable products and are already being used in a small way as alternatives to fuels that power up vehicles.
Solar energy is really the energy that is being produced naturally by the sun and it is, at present, only being used on a small scale. However, when alternative energy technology become adapted to making production of energy from the sun cheap enough and affordable enough for everyone, there is every reason to believe that the sun will do more than provide us heat and light – it can end up becoming our prime alternative energy resource.
